Word on the Decline

  • We’ve been scratching our heads all morning trying to triangulate who is buying Ausgold.

  • No ASX-listed acquirer is in a trading halt, so put a line through them. So our guess is an international buyer. Indonesian capital? Private equity? South African gold printers? North Americans?

  • Genuine head-scratcher.

  • Newmont could theoretically get some synergies and would not need to halt… They could backfill copper concentrate trucks as they truck back from Bunbury to Boddington. But we struggle to see it moving the dial enough for them to be the ones making the move here.
