Word on the Decline
The acquisition of Thesis Gold is starting to look a matter of when, not if.
Lawyers-Ranch hosts a 3.2Moz AuEq reserve at 1.33g/t across a 495km² package, with the PFS outlining a 15-yr mine producing ~187koz AuEq annually. It’s a worthy prize.
Centerra is the obvious industrial buyer. It already owns 9.9% and, more importantly, owns nearby Kemess.
Centerra itself has flagged potential infrastructure and district-level synergies between the two assets.
But AngloGold has now complicated the chessboard, paying C$38.7m for 5% plus technical committee and participation rights in February this year.
That creates the interesting setup. Centerra has the synergies, AngloGold has the balance sheet, and Thesis now has two credible buyers sitting inside the tent.
