Word on the Decline

  • Euroz has confirmed BMO’s $145 million cash proposal for its capital markets business, with exclusivity to 30 June. The interesting part is the carve-out: Euroz would retain 100% of private wealth.

  • That structure makes sense for BMO, which wants Australian mining ECM firepower. It also leaves a logical second trade.

  • Canaccord has already bulked up in Australian wealth through Wilsons and does not need more ECM capacity. Euroz’s listed wealth stub seems to us to have a bow on it for Canaccord’s pickings.
