Word on the Decline
With Resource Capital Funds' exit from Ausenco set to finally close later this year, the more interesting question is what Todd Boehly's Eldridge does with it next.
Some context: RCF backed Ausenco in 2014 and agreed to sell to an Eldridge-led consortium in 2023, but that deal didn’t close. We understand Eldridge instead stepped in as a lender, refinanced the business again since, and will be completing the acquisition of RCF’s stake by end of the year.
The listed names have re-rated hard over the past year - both earnings growth and multiple expansion. And those multiples spill over into private valuations.

That leaves two obvious paths: re-list Ausenco or vend it into a strategic. Worley, anyone?
The signals around the sector are interesting too. Four of Lycopodium's five shareholding directors have sold stock in the past month. Sidara's takeover of Wood shows strategic buyers still want engineering platforms. And Ausenco is as well placed as anyone for the South American copper construction cycle.
