Emerald outlines June quarter dip while Snowline shares PEA numbers

The Pre-Start

  • Emerald expects June 2025 quarter production of ~21Koz at Okvau, below guidance due to cutback activities, with the June month seeing a return to an annualised ~120koz rate. Full FY25 guidance is still expected to be met (EMR)

  • Snowline released a PEA on its Rogue gold project in Yukon, C$3.4B post-tax NPV5 at US$2,150/oz Au, (C$6.8B at US$3,150/oz Au) and initial capex of C$1.7B (SGD.V) 20yr life, +500koz first 5 years... you don’t see a project like this every day - we hope it can be approved and developed in a timely manner

  • Capricorn extended its Karlawinda mining contract with MACA for 5 years (with an option to extend), and selected MACA as preferred contractor for the Mt Gibson project (CMM)

  • IAMGOLD achieve nameplate capacity of 36ktpd throughput at its Côté Gold mine in Canada, with production guided to between 360-400kozpa (IAG.NY)

  • Polymetals has restarted Endeavor, with silver-lead and zinc concentrate production ramping up and first shipments about to commence (POL)

  • Ivanhoe Electric shared a PFS for its Santa Cruz copper project in Arizona. Metrics include NPV8 of US$1.4B, 20% IRR, & upfront capex of US$1.24B at US$4.25/lb copper price. Construction is targeted for the first half of 2026 (IE.TO)

  • Cyprium reported that following recent amendments, Cyprium has all permits required to proceed with phase 1 redevelopment of Nifty (CYP)

  • Koonenberry has extended the Sunnyside prospect at Enmore by an additional 1.6km, bringing the total potential strike length to approximately 2km (KNB)  

  • Drilling at Many Peaks’ Ferké project has extended gold mineralisation 190m down-dip & 100m along strike, with gold intercepts up to 230m @ 1.2g/t (MPK)

  • Wildcat completed ~2,600m of metallurgical and geotechnical drilling at Tabba Tabba, collecting over 3t of material for DFS testwork while progressing PFS studies, environmental and heritage surveys, and exploration drilling (WC8)

  • Brightstar shared further results from its drill program at Sandstone, completing drilling at the Bull Oak deposit (BTR)

  • Lefroy reported narrow, high-grade, near-surface assays from its grade control drilling at the Lucky Strike, including standout intercepts like 7m @ 4.55g/t Au from 22m, with drilling now over 75% complete (LEX)

  • White Cliff announced that John Hancock has joined the board (WCN)

  • Donald Trump said Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire (AFR)

  • Australia’s peak mining lobby said unfavourable policy settings are coming to the fore after a $14.6B plunge in royalties & taxes collected from the sector (Australian)

  • The prospect of all-out war in the Middle East has turbocharged a rally across commodity markets this year, with traders seeing the best returns since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 (AFR)

  • A copper market squeeze is unfolding on the LME, driven by rapidly declining inventories, forcing up spot prices to a $280/t premium to 3-month futures (Bloomberg)

  • Malian tax officials have reopened Barrick Mining's office in the capital under a court-appointed administrator (Reuters)

  • Germany & Italy are facing calls to move their US$245B in gold out of New York following Trump’s repeated attacks on the Fed and increasing geopolitical turbulence (FT)

  • New York state is planning to build a nuclear power plant to meet growing demand for energy, with at least 1 gigawatt of nuclear capacity ordered (Bloomberg) Is this the first new reactor proposed in the US this cycle?

  • Cobalt futures prices in China surged 9% to levels last seen mid-March on Monday after the DRC extended its concentrate export ban (Mining.com)

  • Develop Global is in a trading halt to raise capital (DVP)

  • AIC Mines wrapped up a $55m raising (A1M)

  • Bannerman is in trading halt to raise capital (BMN)

  • Vizsla Silver announced a US$100m bought deal financing to advance Panuco (VZLA.TO)

  • Great Boulder wrapped up a $12.5m placement (GBR)

  • New Murchison is in suspension whilst it seeks $15m via a placement at 1.7c (NMG)

  • GBM will set out to raise $13m via a placement (GBZ)

  • Victory Metals received a letter of commitment from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund for US$10m (VTM)

Word on the Decline

  • Remember the PE entity, “Hyperion”, which launched last year with a bit of a song and dance, backed by Elliott and to be led by ex-Newcrest chief, Sandeep Biswas?

  • So this is old news to those inside the mining PE world, but it’s news to us. Hyperion has been wound down before it ever got going.
