Word on the Decline

  • Far East Gold shareholders have handed Xingye a decisive defeat. At yesterday’s meeting, a whopping 82% of the register voted, removing Xingye’s three board allies.

  • Strip out Xingye’s 35% and about 99.5% of votes backed the board.

  • It is a fitting rebuke to an attempted theft of the company without a control premium in our opinion. Xingye built its stake with a 13c bid worth a fraction of the independent valuation, and the JV partner’s suspicious sale into the lowball offer.

  • Xingye’s own attempt to spill chairman Justin Werner and chief executive Shane Menere on 3 November now looks doomed. If Xingye wants the board, it should pay for the company instead of steal it.

  • Don’t be stingy, Xingye.
