Word on the Decline
We think B2Gold is a takeover target. Here's how Agnico gets what it wants.

A million-ounce producer, unhedged from January, is trading at just 2.8x NTM EBITDA. The market is pricing it off its worst quarter in years: Q2 FCF was negative $258m, but what went out was a fat tax bill to Bamako, the last of a 265koz prepay and $71m of collar losses. None of it repeats.
Our sum-of-the-parts is closer to US$10b vs B2’s EV today of US$6.6b. B2 can do that arithmetic too, which is why it has bought back 35m shares.
Clive Johnston left in June. No more founder veto. And the new guard looks deal-seasoned.
The prize is Goose: getting to 300kozpa, 6.8g/t, built next door to Agnico's $2.4b Hope Bay, to produce 435kozpa from 2030. Agnico’s Nunavut ambition is 800koz–1Moz per year.
Add B2's 9.9% stake in Snowline, which would be of keen interest to Agnico. Remember that Agnico takes what it wants and finds a friend for the rest, as with Osisko in 2014 and Yamana in 2022.
The friend this time needs to want Mali: Endeavour has the balance sheet, Perseus has cash, but not enough. Bamako would happily wave through a Chinese name. Masbate and Gramalote find homes in the afternoon.
