Word on the Decline

  • Golden Horse is spinning its NT copper assets into Sorrel Metals. Portfolio tidy-up, or management lifeboat ahead of a deal?

  • Remember OreCorp spun out Solstice before Silvercorp came knocking. Peel and Hammer have pursued similar SpinCos alongside takeover proposals.

  • There's no shortage of potential suitors. Forrestania has an Edna May mill hungry for feed, Emerald holds 19.9% and recently arranged an acquisition facility expandable to US$400m, while Catalyst, whose interest we've previously reported, may have its hands full after Friday's horror show.

  • Always prudent to launch the lifeboat before selling the ship.
