Word on the Decline

  • We hear AngloGold Ashanti’s appetite for staying in Australia has increased materially, underpinned by encouraging exploration success around Sunrise Dam.

  • That puts Matsa’s optioned ground in a different light. The long-running market rumour was that M39/411 matters strategically for access across Lake Carey toward Butcher Well.

  • More importantly, Anglo’s latest drilling extends from its own tenure onto Matsa’s M39/599 and outlines a 2km mineralised trend.

  • The option structure is favourable to Anglo, with the exercise price tied to the original 936koz resource base. If the new drilling is genuinely material, Anglo can acquire strategic tenure and emerging discovery upside without fully repricing the deal.

  • M39/411 may provide the corridor. M39/599 may provide the ounces.
