Word on the Decline
What will New Murchison Gold do with all its cash? It ended June with A$202m and has likely added another A$50m since. A decent dividend has been flagged once sufficient franking credits accumulate.
But markets aren't particularly forgiving of producers running short on future ounces, and NMG has just 91koz in Reserves. We suspect an acquisition might be on the agenda.
Odyssey, worth just A$34m, looks an interesting candidate. Its Tuckanarra project boasts 451koz, including the 3.8g/t Highway deposit, on granted MLs and truckable to most Murchison mills. It wouldn't require any deviation from NMG's existing playbook.
There's a complication, however. Monument, Odyssey's 20% JV partner, claims to have ousted Odyssey as manager after it struck a Kirkalocka toll-milling deal without Monument's consent. That deal was terminated this week, with Odyssey now negotiating an alternative for its 80% share while the JV dispute heads to mediation. Attractive ounces in a hungry neighbourhood, if the headaches can be untangled.
