Word on the Decline
We initially skipped past Far East Gold. Chinese bidder, obscure junior, plenty else going on. Then we noticed the chairman was Nickel Industries’ Justin Werner.
Now we’re interested.
Xingye first invested at 19.9%, then lobbed a 13c hostile bid. The independent expert reckoned FEG was worth 32-44c. Shareholders mostly resisted, but Xingye still emerged with 34.6%.
Now it wants Werner, CEO Shane Menere and two other directors removed.
Win the board spill and Xingye gets control. Lose it, and FEG is still left with a hostile 34.6% shareholder capable of blocking a scheme and complicating almost any major corporate move.
Put this one in the Canyon/EEA bucket. What a time to have an “aligned” strategic shareholder.
