WAF agree new Burkina state interests, Metals X have another go at their Renison partner

  • West African has signed on to Burkina Faso’s new mining code, which will see the state’s free-carried equity ownership in WAF’s 3 assets lift to 15% (WAF)

  • Energy Fuels claimed a record month of uranium production, extracting 259klb of U3O8 from its Pinyon Plain mine in Arizona (UUUU.NY)

  • Rumble shared drilling from Western Queen South, hitting mineralisation at depth (RTR)

  • Presentations were shared by Vulcan and Regis (Tropicana visit)

High Grade It

  • Trump is set to use emergency powers and slash legal requirements relating to a law aimed at lifting U.S. production of critical minerals and weapons (Reuters)

  • Albanese has praised WA’s domestic gas reservation scheme, saying his gov’t already has the power to force producers to sell to the local market on the east coast (AFR)

  • Meta said it has struck an agreement with Constellation Energy to keep one of the utility's nuclear reactors in Illinois operating for 20 years (Reuters)

  • Mongolia’s PM was ousted in a no-confidence vote, sparking fresh political uncertainty that raises questions over the future of Rio’s OT expansion (AFR)

  • Diplomats, automakers & exec’s from around the globe are urgently seeking meetings with Beijing to push for faster rare earth magnet exports (Reuters)

  • Teck said a mechanical issue at its Carmen de Andacollo mine in Chile will force production to be halted for about a month (NM)

  • Queensland man Tom Peever, caught up in a $200m ATO chase, has been identified as the nephew of former Rio exec David Peever (Australian)

  • An Indigenous delegation visiting Canada from Guatemala has told Pan American Silver, owners of Escobal, that it will oppose a restart (NM)

Wheelin’ n Dealin’

  • Metals X has notified Greentech (Renison JV partner) of its intention to make a partial offer of up to 28% of the company at HK$0.35/share. Metals X shared that it has to-date failed to engage Greentech (MLX) a blind ‘partial’ bid, you don’t see this every day

  • FIRB signed off on CZR’s Robe Mesa sale (CZR)

Rattlin’ the Tin

  • Coronado has entered a binding commitment for a $150m asset-based lending facility with Oaktree. The ABL is secured against certain receivable and inventory assets (CRN)

  • Goldshore launched a bought deal to C$25m to develop Moss (GSHR.TO)

Word on the Decline

  • A few observations on Lynas lately… Amanda Lacaze has been quoted to be “looking at Brazil” and a few days ago, they inked an MOU to secure ionic clay feedstock from Malaysia

  • Wouldn’t this public messaging be your playbook if you were actually thinking of a different deal? Such as a bid for Iluka

  • Don’t get us wrong, we think it is alarming that Eneabba is getting funded in the first place. But for Lynas, a tie-up would concentrate the Australian government handouts in their hands instead. And Lynas’ hands at least have some expertise in this stuff.

  • There are plenty of reasons why this deal doesn’t work. Culture, tax on the Deterra stake, an ordinary mineral sands business… But at a high level, both of these companies don’t exactly make any real money right now. And yet Lynas is 5x the market cap of Iluka

Devil’s in the Detail

Greentech withholding access to due diligence for 9 months! And it’s not even technical DD - MetalsX is across everything Renison related. Presumably only financial/legal DD. What a cluster.
